CNBC

reports that otto co-founder Lior Ron has left uber, and that Otto was acquired by Uber in 2016. Since being acquired by Uber, Ron has been the head of Uber Freight, a trucking service.

uber declined to comment on the specifics of Ron's departure. "We remain fully invested in Uber Freight and are excited about its future," a spokesperson said via email. "We believe it will continue to grow as we transform the trucking industry using our network and technology."

In 2016, Ron left Google and co-founded Otto with Anthony Levandowski.

Today's news of Ron's departure from Uber comes less than two weeks after the fatal self-driving vehicle crash at Uber Tempe. After the crash, Uber suspended all self-driving tests and decided not to apply to the California government for a permit to test self-driving vehicles on the road.
