Japan tests pre-configuration of emergency vehicles with artificial intelligence
TOKYO, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Japanese city of Nagoya has been testing technology that uses artificial intelligence to predict the likely presence of patients or injured people in various locations to deploy emergency vehicles and first responders in the most appropriate areas in advance.
The AI system is able to predict possible patients or injuries based on data from the past nine years of emergency events and the latest weather, according to Kyodo News and other media reports.
The system's forecast information is displayed on EMS computers or first responders' tablets, and areas with different EMS needs are displayed in different colors. The Nagoya City Fire Department can pre-position emergency vehicles and first responders to the most appropriate locations in order to shorten the time it takes for emergency vehicles to transport the sick and injured.
The city of Nagoya reportedly aims to actually apply the system by the end of 2020. (end)
