TCP/IP CIDR and Route Aggregation CIDR route aggregation (routeaggregation)

CIDR

(CIDR: Classless InterDomain Routing) Classless Inter-Domain Routing

  • Eliminate traditional Class A, Class B and Class C address boundaries
  • NetID-SubID → Network Prefix can be any length
  • Fusion of subnet addresses and subnet masks for easy subnetting
  • Classless address format: a.b.c.d/x, where x is the prefix length

for example

  • subnetwork201.2.3.64, 255.255.255.192→201.2.3.64/26

Classless InterDomain Routing (CIDR: Classless InterDomain Routing)

  • Improving the efficiency of IPv4 address space allocation
  • Improving routing efficiency
  • Aggregate multiple subnets into a larger subnet
  • Constructing supernetting (supernetting)

route aggregation

It is the aggregation of those that can be grouped together into the same subnet, which reduces the burden on the routing table and speeds up routing efficiency, as in the following example.

Hierarchical addressing makes routing information announcements more efficient:
