Feng Shi is a second-level researcher at the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a professor at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a doctoral supervisor, a leader in the discipline of paleography at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a recipient of a special government allowance. He is a member of the Academic Committee of the Institute of Archaeology, deputy editor-in-chief of the Journal of Archaeology, and a member of the Expert Committee of the Research Center for Ancient Civilizations of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, vice president of the China Guo Moruo Research Association, and director of the Chinese Society for the Study of Ancient Writing. His research interests are in palaeography and astroarchaeology, alongside Shang and Zhou archaeology, astronomical chronology, pre-Qin history, the history of ancient thought, historical documentation and the history of science and technology. He has published 12 academic books and more than 200 papers, and is the editor-in-chief of the Jinwen Literature Integration. The academic monograph "Chinese Astronomical Archaeology" pioneered the system of Chinese astronomical archaeology, which is of foundational significance and opens up new avenues for the study of the origins of Chinese civilization.
